Under competitive pressure from cheap Chinese steel billet sources, CIS billet manufacturers are forced to reduce their offering prices. Currently, the price offered for CIS billets has dropped to 465-475 USD/ton FOB Black Sea (down about 25-30 USD/ton compared to September 2014).
In the Turkish market, scrap steel prices have dropped to 327 USD/ton CFR, down nearly 40 USD/ton compared to the end of September 2014.
In the Asian market, the price of imported scrap steel continues to decline due to low demand, pressure on falling iron ore prices, plus cheap steel billet sources in China, causing many factories to cut production. The offered price of scrap steel container HMS1/2 80:20 is about 300 USD/ton CFR Taiwan (down about 35-40 USD/ton compared to last month).
Domestic market: According to Vietnam Steel Corporation, the price of construction steel at the factory in October 2014 was stable compared to September 2014 (only Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company adjusted to reduce construction steel prices by 150 VND/kg depending on type, implementation time from October 6, 2014).
